What a combination. The samurai didn't have a good war in 200 years, they were spending all the time and money (most didn't have) with the slaves in Yoshiwara, not being allowed to enter trade business "because of their rank". First shogun (that would be the last) not trained like a samurai and a dog lover (dog shogun) got sick and died and was followed by a mentally unfit one when the mighty American fleet came and gave their ultimatum. Open (to trade of course what else, the Americans) or die!

Looks to me like convincing enough for a country that wouldn't otherwise open to the world. Though their Buddhist ninja elite were in the world for hundreds of years, among other things, preparing this. They tricked the Japanese then like they they're tricking them today to make them work to death so they can buy the world.

Though American fleet was powerful when compared to Japan's at that day (the ninja shoguns of the Edo period didn't make any weapons upgrades in 200 years), and they had guns (that took a long time to reload) some day they would have had to land. Then how would they have defeated 800 thousands samurai? Ten years later, a slightly different story.

It all sounds to me like "Tokugawa family" betrayed Japan.

Europeans followed, 8 years later the samurai were finally disbanded, Japan entered officially in the modern era their ninja created for them. Isolated, as entertained forced laborers,  providing a world base for the Buddhist ninja.
