Two or three small rocket engines, cooled case, with intake in the middle (under pressure), exhaust collected at periphery, fuel injection, maybe a little oxygen or nitrous added, etc..

Not like this... All encased under the hood (crazier things have been done).

I love this version with the dissonant chords... 5 days a week El Jo, rest of the time, Jo Al.
