9:40 Dirtiest place in your home. I don't use dishwasher on automatic because the water intake valve is broken. I tried to replace it but it broke again. It is the microswitch that is connected to the floater (left bottom in the image) that got contaminated with slime and flickrs, killing the valve's coil. But while working on it i noticed this smell and looked with a flashlight. The high pressure flexible pipe that brings water to the valve was touching the wall and they were sqft of mold @it, because water and pipe being so cold and wet with condensation. So i just quit using it on automatic, what i do is i add some hot water in it and start two washing cycles and two rinsing. It's time consuming, you have to come 3 times and add water, but is the only option. Sometimes we just do dishes manually.
When i opened it this morning to grab something, i noticed the dishes had a stinky slime on it. I thought they weren't rinsed from last night and started a rinsing cycle, but they wouldn't rinse. Finally i started to make sense of the smell near it and i knew it was time to take it apart and clean the slime from the surfaces invisible. It's not the first time. The first time it was working automatically and i found much more slime, hardened, it took me half day to clean it. When did i do it last time? 6 months ago? I think it needs to be done... i don't know, maybe every month or so. Maybe the surfaces under floater, the holes in the lid, the horizontal area under the grill and even the bottom, where water flows at a very low rate get contaminated after just one use. I just don't know. Maybe i shouldn't use it no more.
Could it be the dishwashers at the restaurants are the same? Could this be the reason Americans subconsciously prefer to eat fast food instead of cooking at home (contaminated ovens are also a big problem, affecting air quality inside), where food is wrapped in paper and never touches any dish? Just being around the thing by trying to clean it, after i ate, i already feel nauseated and my day just started.
