US Budget 2013-2017

02/12/2018. I wrote this in several g+ posts, i will write it one more time here.

There is a problem with the US budget, more exactly at least SS+unemployment part of it. For the last few years Social Security spendings as seen in the charts below were in the range of 1.4 trillion dollars.

From google searches we can figure there are 56 millions people on Social Security and 6.4 millions on federal unemployment.

If we divide the two numbers and to twelve months we get an average of 1800 dollars.

(dollar numbers in millions)

That contradicts the more realistic number from google searches by a factor of almost 2.

There could be the same problem with Medicare.

...

I wrote this blog post for the purpose of evaluating the impact of Obamacare on US budget. There is a 4% increase in Medicare and Health Care between 2014 and 2017 but we don't know from these charts exactly how much Obamacare cost of these cause we only have the total. If it's 4 percent of 4 trillion that is 160 billion from the budget for 20 million people being insured i think it's worth it.

160 billion/20 million, that would be 8000 dollars per person per year. With 8000 dollars a year one can buy a premium insurance.

From what i know though Obamacare is not free except for very low income people. There are copays, penalties and contributions from employers.

The increase might be due to other spendings in this chapter of the budget.

One crazy question: If US would insure for free all people how much would it cost?

If a premium of 7000 dollars a year per person might be reasonable, for 300 million people it would be... 2.1 trillion. That is about... Twice of what it spends right now for HealthCare and Medicare or half of total budget. I don't know how other countries like Canada are doing it...

Another one (crazy idea). Right now the budget spends around 1 trillion on healthcare, that is MediCare and Obamacare. That amount could pay a 7000 dollars a year premium for half the population of the US. I bet it doesn't. And i know why. They spend half of it just to bring it to them... To the beneficiaries.

Google says... 53 million on Medicare and 20 on Obamacare... LOL. I was right!
