Spaceship Earth

Very few people realize that planet Earth in its motion around the Sun, with Sun moving around the center of the galaxy at incredible speeds and have been circling the galaxy around 18 times since... well, since time began for it, our planet dances with the stars and the Moon. :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galactic_year

So all celestial bodies sort of tango around, like Earth and Moon, Earth and planets and stuff. So no big need to go to Mars only a few of us cause we all may sometimes be where Mars has passed by and beyond...

Or try to go in the Delta Quadrant with Kathryn Janeway's Voyager since we all are going to be there in about a 100 million years or so anyways... Or maybe not, cause the galaxy itself might move around the Universe and stuff with other galaxies...

I'm saying Earth tangos with Moon because since Moon is one sixth of Earth's weight, it pulls it too a little bit and Earth rotates around Moon about 6 times less then Moon around Earth, together forming some sort of wobbling pair, locked in a sort of like gravity pull, never too far, never too close, for like eons...

Actually the motion of the Earth in space is very complex and it takes a lot of differentials and computer power just to figure the path of a satellite. Not talking about going to the Moon and stuff.

By the way, i thing it's impossible to go to Mars since going to the Moon for three men took a rocket about 2.8 million kilograms (6.2 million pounds), the weight of about 400 elephants. If light takes about 1 second to travel from Earth to Moon, to Mars, depending on the position on the trajectory of both, well, they wrote better than me here http://blogs.esa.int/mex/2012/08/05/time-delay-between-mars-and-earth/

4 minutes, that is 240 seconds, 240 x farther than Moon at the closest point, you will need a 240 times bigger rocket. 96000 elephant-power.

But let's come back here on Earth and talk about our spaceship for 7 billions.

Many times i think... Well... There are so many things that if would miss we couldn't be here that sometimes i think the whole damned thing is engineered.

If we only speak about magnetic field that deflects, together with the Solar magnetic field the cosmic rays, particles coming from cosmic cataclysms with near the speed of light that would fry everything on Earth if it wasn't for those two magnetic fields...

http://www.clarksvilleonline.com/2013/08/08/nasa-says-the-magnetic-field-of-the-sun-is-about-to-change-polarity/

By the way, Sun's magnetic field is about to reverse polarity, it does so every 11 years or so and that takes about 3 month in which time Earth will be less protected...

Life on Mars is not possible just because of missing of a Magnetic field... Let's say if they could figure a way to dissociate water, if there was water there like in the movie with Schwarzenegger, and make an atmosphere, that would be soon swept away by the cosmic rays and the solar wind (a different story)...

I believe if they could start a magnetic field, maybe Mars will catch an atmosphere in time, from comets and stuff...

The thing is nobody knows exactly why Earth has a magnetic field. There is a theory, about the motion of magma inside Earth and creating an electric current that in turn creates this huge magnetic field, but that theory could not explain why Venus that does not have a molten core has a magnetic field, though weak, about 1% of that of Earth, still capable of maintaining an atmosphere, although made of CO2 and an average of 460 Celsius degrees (at which temperature structured objects, like rocks usually start to glow or radiate in visible red!).

I used to know this geological engineer in Romania, Emil Rusu, who once told me, nobody went yet in there (center of the Earth) so we can't know for sure what's going on...

By the way, Venus is about the same size as Earth and Mars about the same size of Moon, with twice the gravity of Moon but still 38% of that of Earth... So colonists in there would jump around not walk, LOL.

But the reason i wrote all these is i wanted to say something about the theory of convection inside the Earth and tectonic plates.

In other words, i never heard of an explanation like why the plates raise and separate from each other in the middle of the continents and bump into each other and sink in the middle of the Ocean... I always thought the other way around and plates are raising because bumping into each other in the middle of the continent...

The explanation may be because in the middle of the Oceans there is a different rate of cooling of the plates, the oceans carrying at the bottom, through currents, some coolness from Poles, much more efficient than air through winds and stuff, and cooling the plates. Then magma being cooled through the mantle as well, it sinks in that area, only to raise, after being heated again after traveling to the center of the Earth, in the middle of the continents. That's why.

The ridges in the middle of the Paicific Ocean, where plates meet and bump into each other...
However, according to this theory, at any point at the surface of the Earth, the temperature is lower than at the bottom of the mantle, some 100 km... down, where rock is actually molten and much hotter magma raises from the center of the Earth. That proves there is a constant transfer of heat from under the mantle to surface and radiating in the cold space surrounding us. Cause nothing, including the mantle, is not a perfect insulator... Some heat will travel through it... (If that wouldn't be so, there would be no convection in magma, cause if there's no heating at the bottom and cooling at the top, there's no convection)
Because of this, after billions of years since Earth has reach the current thermal balance, there is a source of heat at the center of the Earth, otherwise it would have frozen, like Venus, long time ago. (Venus is hot at the surface due to runaway greenhouse effect) but one piece of solid rock as a whole. Well, many pieces, of course, cause it is fragmented. (One more proof that appearances are sometimes misleading.) (Or maybe it has in the middle some tiny molten part and it still moves around a bit thus the residual magnetic field).

Isn't our Spaceship Earth wonderfully engineered? Isn't all this exciting?

My Last ER Visit

The date on the ECG. December 1st 2010. That day i cleaned the heaters (Baseboard, Cadet),  (i discovered a method, i turn them to the maximum and sprinkle clean hot water on them while hot and they make some steam, some bad smell but get cleaned really well). http://www.homedepot.com/p/Cadet-6-ft-1-500-Watt-240-Volt-Electric-Baseboard-Heater-White-6F1500W/100080894

After eating almost an entire cake (2 pounds), 2 liters of coke, ice-cream, and other junk food, i went to bed around 10. Couldn't fall asleep, felt like fainting. I used my life-saver oximeter and it was showing the oxygen level in normal limits, then i fell asleep, but opened my eyes one more time and i saw on the monitor the oxygen level was 89. I felt like i was about to pass out and jumped out of bed, into my truck and drove to Providence. Nobody on 217 at that our except a fire engine that went all the way to Providence with me and was putting out diesel smoke pretty bad. Went to the ER, took a number and sat on a sofa. I thought i saw a face i knew from a Romanian video, a Romanian singer that died before 2006 in an accident. She smiled at me then (she was dressed very summarily, in a short t-shirt and very low under belly jeans, asked me if i had change for a 20 or i did asked her can't remember, then put a jacket on and left.) Then i saw another person that looked like a different Romanian singer i knew from videos with a t-shirt with the word Roxy written with big letters with pink glitter. I spoke with her and she had a hand held something and she was answering with very few words after consulting that thing. I sat under an air conditioner vent for hours with the oximeter on my finger until i wanted to go to the bathroom. So i went, and when i came out i was about to faint again, but a guy with a note-pad with some papers picked me up and took me inside the ER. In the room was smelling very pungent, like menthol but stronger. They hooked me to the ECG machine and produced what you can see above. They motivated by the fact that one or some of the wires were not hooked properly. In a hospital like that, an ECG cost maybe 200 dollars, but they were kind enough to forgive my debt, together with all the costs for that ER trip, months later. When i told them later about the smell, they picked a piece of cotton from a counter-top and threw it away and the smell was gone. They told me i was ok and sent me home. In my way home when  i got off Barbur Blvd into Luradel some guy opened the cars window and spat at me. I went home and slept two hours until my wife got home.

Old Pictures Since @Year 2000

Orville Oster (Axle Roset), me, other people, AVX, Vancouver, WA, 2000 This pictures taken with a cheap camera had been designed on purpose with me at the dark end of the flash range. The first woman is not actully whiter than i was especially after many months or even years of not being exposed to sunlight. We were eating McDonalds and drinking Coca Cola but they caught me with a cup raised on purpose. It was in the evening during that swing shift and i was working a lot back then and i was also looking tired.

Sweet Lord and The Two Georges

George Harrison - My Sweet Lord from Guru Sabe on Vimeo.

Just finished this after half hour of searches. Today i heard the news about Ringo's photos then a song on the radio. Then it struck me. The two voices are almost indistinguishable. Thought i should share the idea. Never liked "boy" George anyways. After finishing i went to the kitchen to get a drink. It's 7:29 PM and i didn't have any today. Raising from the chair and two steps to the right and here i am in the kitchen. Cause there is no distinction between hallway, were i have the computer, living and kitchen. (The whole apartment is 50 sq mt (600 sq ft), a little smaller than the the one bedroom i had in Romania). I am in the living. I am in the kitchen. It's like that. But not really. When i got at the window, a car passed by, with an open window with a innocent-frighten-looking female in it. Like some of the ones from the pictures four posts ago. Stopped under the window, like they always do because of the yellow speed hump. It always happens like this. Every time when i got there to grab a drink or something to eat. How do they know when?

Write This Down

I was listening to to 99.5 FM, The Wolf. Exactly a few seconds after i started thinking about writing this post, i heard the first tunes of the song above. I am not that versed in country so i had to wait a few seconds until i heard the first words.

Write this down. George Strait. (one guy who should not monopolize the straightness of all guys named George, i said it long time ago). So i decided to write this down. It's gone take some pain. First i have to bring here Dimitrie Cantemir, one of the greatest writers and historians that lived in Europe during the Ottoman Empire. He actually lived a large part of his adult life in Istanbul, Turkey. He knew a lot about Ottomans. He wrote a lot about their history in a work called History of the Growth and Decay of the Ottoman Empire whose manuscripts were part of the Romanian Treasure transferred by the Romanian government to Moscow in 1916.

But this is not what i had in mind to write down today.

I was thinking how little we know about the history of a people that spans over 1000 years that lived and thrived in the middle East, parts of Europe, Asia, Africa.

One thing i know for sure. From a video i saw on youtube. Their leaders where absolute. Their entire existence was based on this one constant. The leader could not be contested. (I remember i read somewhere that their rules of succession were so tough that at the moment o taking power the sultan was killing all his brothers for everybody's assurance that he will not be challenged - here: "the practice of fratricide, first employed by Mehmed II, soon became widespread.[2] Both Murad III and his son Mehmed III had their half-brothers murdered. The killing of all the new sultan's brothers and half-brothers (which were usually quite numerous) was traditionally done by manual strangling with a silk cord." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_of_succession_to_the_former_Ottoman_throne). After all, absolute leadership is the most natural type of social organization known to humankind but that doesn't mean that in time this type of society does not become advanced or sophisticated.

I bet there was a big competition for gaining sultan's favor and trying to influence him. Probably part of this was straight advising, when asked for. But i bet another part of this was guessing his mood and suggestioning. I never read anything about but it is my guess.

But i don't think it was such a far fetched assumption if i considered that they might have brought this to an art level. Both guessing his mood and making subtle suggestions. Could they have gotten at the level where could have been embedded them in the songs he was listening?

I was getting ready to read a book i took from the library, "The Last Sultan, The Live and Times of Ahmet Ertegun" by Robert Greenfield. Ahmet Ertegun. The ambassador's son. The media mogul. The man who changed the face of American music. (or maybe not only music). Never had time to. But i think all that anybody needs to read from that book is in the picture below.

And judging only by the title of the book and the passage i already read online, the fact that he in the Atlantic files “had every disc jockey in the United States’s shoe size, hat size, preference in women and drugs of choice” make me think he might have introduced us, unknowingly, to the not forgotten practices of those times of the Ottoman Empire, so familiar to those that come from communist countries, (and this is not a coincidence, i wrote in other posts about the possible connection) things that don't have anything to do with democracy and Declaration of Independence. Click on the picture to can actually read that in the book, on the lower left page.

If a dictator or sultan can be influenced by embedded words in his music, why a democracy couldn't? Provided you have the means to reach everyone.(And that is already history).

Imagine a guy like that with knowledges like those in the today's internet and supercomputers' world.

And by the way, i thought i spotted his ghost yesterday in a beige, older Volvo driven by a beautiful, not so old, smiling woman.

"Rendezvous on Champs-Elysees"

Or proof that subliminality was not invented only a few years ago.

However, someone still has to explain to me who is screwing who. But my guess is nobody really knows.

Selena Quintanilla

September 1995. Portland, Oregon. Selena and Sade and Alanis Morisette on all radio stations. What a nice music. To me Selena sounded like a cousin of Gloria Estefan. With pretty rich, professional instrumentals too... And then... What i didn't know was that earlier that year, the music died, again.

Today i was looking for her songs and i stumbled upon yet another memorable piece of music, a cut from a movie. Jennifer Lopez's movie debut. Or what make-up can do to a person.

In The Army

1987. IMU Bacău, now World Machinery Works LOL. I went to a 10 hour video maraton, "videourile", for wich i paid i can't remember, what, it was 70 lei divided by five families? In somebody's apartment. In one of the breaks between movies they played a version of the song In The Army Now with British band Status Quo, the one with running soldiers. I was familiar somehow with the band since i was myself in a band that did our own cover of Hot Dogs, from Cătălin's memory, with mumbled words :D, when i was in the first second year in college. Recently i heard the real song. Kinda rock and roll country.

I got really obsessed with In The Army Now after seeing that video, i think it was one of the first music videos i ever seen don't know why or maybe i got an idea now, i think i should write about. It was probably the smoke coming from the bathroom pipes enclosure, because my downstairs neighbour was smoking, at least for the recognizable part, cigarettes, and then i was getting euphoric, and i used to think by some magic property gained by doing "yoga" in high school. Pretty much like here before it stopped today @8PM at least for now after i threw some water in the gutters. I recorded the song at the "Recording studio" at the street front of Bacău performing theatre building, they just "happened" to have the album, on one cassette all over on both sides so i can play it continuously. Since i had this Russian cassette player at work for our Sinclair cloned computers with which we were pioneering at IMU in Computer Aided Design, i was playing that song continuously, for what, a month or two? Now i remembered what broke that cycle, but i will rather not say. My colleagues were bending their noses of course but didn't stop me. That's when i made my first gears optimizing program in Sinclair Basic, the one that got a very bad review in a big meeting from the production chief engineer conf.dr.ing.Bontaş. That program would have been ok even by today's standards.

And all this happened before we got our PDP-11 clone. Then i made another version of that program, in the BASIC that came with the RSX-11 operating system.  And many other programs in Fortran77 and even Macro assembler (i learned Macro from the course notes and questions towards my ex-colleague and subordinate that spent 3 months in Bucharest at ICI or CC-MIEt (now i have some doubts)) until 89 when i switched to accounting and payroll in different programming languages like Fortran77, dBase and FOXBASE.

I had no idea why the word Quo was in there in the band's name. Maybe it was just subliminal. Maybe the're all gay (Watch the gesture with the guitar at the beginning of this live version). I don't care i just went crazy for the song, that's all.

It was all subconscious. Any wise ass can tell me why? Cause now i know...

By the way i still like the song...

Landslide

Hope i'm not drunk or somehting while i write this i don't understand all the words in this song as i did not read the lyrics yet. Ok here they are:

I took my love and I took it down
I climbed a mountain and I turned around

And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
'Till the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?

Mmm Mmm...

Well, I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I'm getting older too
(Gutiar solo)

Well, I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I, I built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I'm getting older too
I'm getting older too

So, take my love, take it down
Oh climb a mountain and turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring you down, down

And If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well maybe the landslide will bring it down
Oh oh, the landslide will bring it down

What's more to say? That it gives me the shivers every time when i see and hear this ice cold northern fairy, Stevie Nicks, together with her golden fingered guitar man, Lindsey Buckingham?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bashi-bazouk

"A bashi-bazouk or bashibazouk (Turkish başıbozuk, or delibaş, literally "damaged head", meaning "free headed", "leaderless", "disorderly") was an irregular soldier of the Ottoman army. They were particularly noted for their lack of discipline."

Bette Davis Eyes

Câmpulung, late June or early July 1978. The day when i found out but not for sure i was admitted to college. The next early morning my father drove with me to Iaşi. Before dawn exhaust pipe broke somewhere in a village and had to fix it with a piece of sheet metal and some wire he had in the trunk. I was on the list above the red line.

In that night full of uncertainty and nervousness a bunch of ex grade school class mates (we went do different high schools) listened music and talked. There was a book with actors and i remembered Bette Davis eyes from the movie Jezebel and browsed that book until i found her picture.

A couple of years later in all the discotheques they were playing this song. All the words where there. Pro blush, precocious, unease you, please you.

"The song was written in 1974 by Donna Weiss and Jackie DeShannon. DeShannon recorded the song that same year on her album New Arrangement. But it was not until 1981, when Kim Carnes recorded her version of the song, that it became a commercial success."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bette_Davis_Eyes

Anybody could tell me what year the movie Jezebel was played in Romania?

English:

Today i discovered that the vibration of the 25  years old huge refrigerator is transmitted through the floor and across the wall in the bathroom where it makes vibrate the glass sliding doors from the tube. The bathroom door is made out of 5mm fiberboard that easily deforms about 1 cm if you press lightly on it. The panels on the walls around bathroom door are not close enough to the frame and i am under impression there are missing or loose screws under paint, and they all vibrate on several frequencies, all under 10 Hz. I remember at Bacău, last place where i lived in Romania the floor in the kitchen was moving a little too when i was walking on it.

I am under the impression that any house vibrates, especially here where are made of wood frame covered with gypsum (drywall) panels especially if the screws are not tighten all the way or missing... At the balcony there is a huge sliding door paired with a static window that deform easily if you press with the finger right in the middle. In the bedroom there is a storage with huge sliding doors covering all the batthrom wall made of 5mm fibreboard that vibrate as well.

I knew for a few days now that the walls are vibrating but i couldn’t make the link with the pressure in the ears and dizziness and the urge to live the place until last night when the fridge’s compressor started and i started feeling the pressure and the need to live.

Today i moved the fridge around so i can install some fonoabsorbant (loose fiberboard) panels underneath and around the back of it and than guess who i think i saw leaving from the other entrance of the building, where my neighbours on the other side of the wall next to where the fridge is are, with blonde wig and got into a minivan than switched into an older, smaller Honda and left although i think she came into one of those newer, low, grey Dodge?

The two entrances and the corresponding apartments do not communicate, at least at the upper level, where i live, from what i know. The weirdest part is the apartment right beneath me is vacant since last September with the blinds tightly covering the windows so no light can go in our out and i didn't see anybody getting in or out either for so many month.

I forgot to say that shortly after i moved here i wanted to buy another fridge from my own money but the real estate agency that i rent from did not agree although this fridge is not worth any money, being a total piece of junk.

There is at least one distinguishable harmonic from the @4 Hz main frequency but i don't have the necessary instruments to investigate what that frequency is. Maybe if i had a video editing program installed, maybe i should try download one. Probably is a frequency most harmful when vibrating out of phase with Earth electric resonance frequency, the so called Schumann frequency, at 7.89 Hz, that would be the double of what i'm counting using the clock from the wall? The sliding door have a metal frame as well so...

Maybe that's why they're slamming the doors for... To kick start a vibration that is out or in phase with Earth electric standing waves?

Now i read in wikipedia that 60 Hz is the eighth harmonic of the Schumann. Why in Europe they use 50 Hz and in the United States 60? Which one is healthier?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schumann_resonances

Somebody please tell me what the hell is going on...

Surpassing The Limits of Offense

When i first came to US i got paranoid about an expression. Take care. It is an affectionate, familial form of letting someone know you care for them, used mostly in temporary, daily separation salutes. But to me, in the hurry (of translating) given by the multitude of initial traumas and stress due to the move, it sounded like a threat. (Now i know it was all "simulated, anticipated and under control").

Similar to what i felt yesterday when i saw on a "Oregon Cultural" vanity plate. B CARFULL. It shouldn't have affected me if even if i know it was not by accident that guy psychologically cornered me on the street.

But i see nowadays people getting and acting like being offended, by things that i say in the supposed intimacy of my living place.

Isn't this kinda of passing a new limit of hysteria, to get offended by overhearing and showing it, waiting for more reactions, in an endless "controlled" echo-logical, self-sustained loop (not to say by eavesdroping, because i might fall in a different keyword category)? Kinda like in organized stalking?

I was thinking adding the word mindless to the above phrase but i feel like it's already getting too complicated. But i think i learned a lot about what consequential behaviour is, which is probably a cousin of casual behaviour and the significance of the stage name of a Black Eyes Peas member, Will.I.Am.

And then something else came to my mind. A song i heard so many times while holding for Sony Customer Service Reps. in Laredo, Texas.

And then i realized, that's why so many people have GPS today, in their cars, on their smart-phones, cameras, everywhere.

Hilson, Timbaland

Used and mismanaged, two of the best artists in American contemporary music. This video came out way better than intended, due to natural talent of the two. Or maybe it was the exact negotiated compromise. Or how we can still savour entertainment, though among hiccups.

Which reminds me of:

By the way, in my opinion, appology is overrated. There are too many people appologizing around and continuing doing the same damn thing.
